MASTERS V8 SERIES

Owen Ashley spotted a gap in the motor racing market for the more mature individual who had a passion for motor racing, but who could not previously afford to race or who was generally considered to be too old to race competitively at a national or provincial level.

Hence, the creation of the Masters V8 Series, a racing series developed for drivers over the age of 45, who have the ability to competitively race the APV347is, the car specifically designed for this series.

A number of demonstration races are scheduled for late 2007, with actual series races set to start in 2008. The series will consist of six races at the Killarney Motor Racing Circuit in Cape Town, South Africa with another two races taking place at other circuits in South Africa.

The Masters V8 Series will be strictly controlled and all of the cars racing will have identical specifications. Each car will be fitted with a data logging GPS system to monitor all aspects of the vehicle’s engine and all aspects of the driver’s braking, acceleration, g-forces in cornering, etc. The idea is to expose the drivers to modern technology, such as that experienced by F1 drivers, but also aims to make the racing more competitive as the fastest lap time will be displayed on big screen and other drivers will be able to overlay their lap time to calculate differences.

Owen Ashley Auto Developments is prepared to provide assistance to foreigners who are interested in creating a Masters V8 Series in their own territory, provided that the Master Series cars, i.e. the APV347is, are used.
