APV347is Launch, November 2007

Approximately 300 guests had the privilege of attending the recent launch of the Ashley APV347is and the V8 Masters Series at Johann Rupert’s Franschoek Motor Museum (www.fmm.co.za) in Franschoek, South Africa. The APV347is was unveiled by racing legend, Sarel van der Merwe and Johann Rupert, who commented, “The quality and workmanship of this vehicle makes me proud to be a South African.” Several of the drivers took delivery of the chassis plates of their soon-to-be-delivered machines, including ex-South African champions Chris Aberdein, Robbi Smith and Peter Gough, who are just some of the well-known drivers that will be taking part in the new V8 Masters Series. “It is a great series and long overdue. This vehicle is probably one of the neatest and best built cars in South Africa”, said Sarel van der Merwe. Owen Ashley also took this opportunity to announce OAAD’s intention to list the company on the U.S. stock exchange, as well as the possibility of a V8 Masters World Series. A total of 35 vehicles have been sold to date with the majority of these being sold in the Cape Town region prior to the official launch. Visit the Photo Gallery for images of the unveiling.
